John 17:21 ” …that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.”
Disaster movieshave a way of getting our attention! It makes us think about things that we don’t normally think about. How will I behave if a virus for which there’s no cure, is set free worldwide? What will I do if there’s a flood that engulfs the whole world?
Life is sometimes not much different than some disaster movies. It just happens slower. The problem started when people started giving in to sin. All people are guilty of and doomed to everlasting death. However, through God’s grace, He devised a cure for it: believe in Jesus Christ who paid for our sins. We read in 2 Peter 3:9 that God doesn’t want anybody to be lost, but wants to give everybody an opportunity to turn to Him.
The way He chooses to show the world how and who He is, is through us. Your purpose to show God’s love towards others is more important than your purpose on earth to one day have an interesting job or a wonderful family.
Like Jesus, we cannot achieve this task on our own. How can we show someone who God is if we do not know Him so well ourselves? How can we give His love to others if we don’t have an intimate relationship with Him? How can we say we believe in Him if He is not everything to us?
Jesus prayed just before He left this earth that we will have a close relationship with God, so that we could share it with the rest of the world.
Prayer: God, I become distracted by so many things and then forget that You are actually the most important in my life. Please help me to keep my eyes on You and not to allow anything else to steal my time with You. Amen.
Challenge: Think how you would tell someone, in a few sentences, how much God means to you.
