After a period of glory, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies sent me[a] against the nations who plundered you. For he said, “Anyone who harms you harms my most precious possession. 9 I will raise my fist to crush them, and their own slaves will plunder them.” Then you will know that the Lord of Heaven’s Armies has sent me.
Sometimes I wish I was one of the heroes or heroines in the movies. They are so special that someone is prepared to overcome the most clever thieves and dangers to save that very special person’s life. I’ve tried to analyse them in order to find out what makes a person so special that someone would fight for you and even endanger their own lives in the process. If I can be like that, then I can know that I am always safe and I don’t have to wonder if I am loved.
We have to remind ourselves constantly that Jesus does think we are that precious. Before you were born He already knew which mistakes you would make, yet He was still prepared to fight for you. He becomes angry when someone harms you. He abandons the other 99 “sheep” to search for you if you lose your way. He did not only endanger His life, but He was prepared to give up His place in heaven and to take the credit and blame for everything you did wrong upon Himself.
Don’t allow any thoughts of being unworthy to haunt you. Those thoughts are not truth.
Jesus will go to the battlefield for you.
Prayer: Jesus, thank you that You think I’m precious and worthy. Thank you that you are prepared to make sacrifices for me. Thank you that You care so much when I’m hurt. Amen.
Challenge: On a scale of zero (nothing) to ten (a lot), how much do you think God cares if something bad happens to you? Go and look at yourself in the mirror and say out loud: “I am very precious!”
